Hypocrite?
Holy cow! there are so many international Indians in all the masters programs that I have been applying to that it scares the crap out of me to have to compete with these guys for getting admission. And even if admitted, I would love being around Indians, but a part of me is also scared that I will not get an all-rounded cultural experience if I am surrounded by desis all the time.
I do not know what this says about me :-P

which program did u decide upon ??
still sticking with biomed ?
and any plans of U of L ?
yup.. biomed n management if things work out.. no, U of L is not on my list - do they even have Biomed?
And who says you can't mingle with non-desis if you mingle with desis? One can do both, right? :)
If you join a student group based on an activity/interest, you are likely to meet/make friends with a diverse crowd.
Hi,Shreya...it's such a nice feeling to know that there are so many international Indians(read: NRIs?Grin)in all the Masters programs.(We rock,as always)..worry not, there'll surely be a miniscule 5-10% of other nationalities in whichever course you take up.
And,hey, what do you mean by 'chak de spoilers' in your comment?(Let me guess-you don't want to read the review before seeing the movie).
hey...you've started applying to colleges so soon?all this comes after gre na?
btw what do u mean by all-round cultural experience
:))
(continued from previous comment)
yea..U of L has biomed !
Amit, true, that one can hang out with other ethnicities if she joins a club with a common interest... let's just hope that I find one such thing or group given my wide range of Indian interests :P
And yes, I did mean that I did not want to read anything about the movie before I see it myself! :D
Girish, I have indeed started applying to colleges even though I have not given my GREs yet. Finishing the application takes a lot of time with personal essays, recommendation letters and all that stuff, so one does not need to wait until GREs to start applying. :-)
What I meant by an all-round experience was that you learn a lot and broaden your horizons by meeting people from different backgrounds and ethnicities, which is what I will miss out on if I only have Indian friends! :P
Shalin, maybe I just haven't heard anything good about UoL's biomed program lol... thanks for the info tho, will check it out :)
Observation-there are comments from two Amits in this post(That's why I always write AmitL),so,please reply separately to both comments.Grin grin grin.:)And,yes, you can read the pic and the end-jokes,in the chak de spoilers post.(Waise,I did not give away the spicy part of the story-just the salt n pepper,a bit)
oh, I totally did not notice the difference of an 'L' in the two posts by Amit. I was wondering why you had posted two comments on the same entry lol...
u r not an hypocrite ! lol. in my school, oh the masters class are filled with 97% indians. hyderabadis. with moustaches. its depressing. and these ppl have brains like anything. im sorry that u have to see so many desis in class baby.
i donnno wot ive jus said shows abt me :D LOL.
Shreya, no worries. :)
Actually, when I left the first comment on your blog (regarding cats), IIRC I signed it as "Amit (not L)" for the same reason that I have a namesake here. Are you in Boston too?
-Amit
how do u manage to get so many comments ??
add google's adsense !
I will click on it daily to make u money :)
Hey,just noticed your question on the sboutbox..simple. Just go to 'http://myshoutbox.com' and follow the steps to get one for your blog.Good luck.
Red! so you have experienced it already! hah, I am glad to have some company in hypocrisy here. Two is always better than one, ain't it? :D
Amit, you are right - I do remember your making the distinction between you and your namesake in the 'cats' post. Well, won't make that mistake again :)... And no, I am not in Boston, but I am guessing that you are :P
Neo, good idea.. Very soon I shall set-up Ad-sense too!! I already have plans on how to spend those extra bucks! :P
Thank u, AmitL.. :)
